Shane Jones | The Craft Behind Jonesea Wetsuits
I am the creator and designer behind Jonesea Wetsuits. Born and raised in Orange County, California, I have been surfing for nearly 40 years and competing throughout my life. That experience gives me a deep understanding of exactly what a surfer needs from their gear.
I started Jonesea because I saw a void in the market for wetsuits that were functional, stylish, and built to last. I realized I had the knowledge and skill to build them the way I believed they should be made, so I decided to do it myself.
I personally hand cut, glue, stitch, and silkscreen every single wetsuit from start to finish in my California studio. With over 20 years of experience in wetsuit construction, I have mastered the art of sewing and pattern making and design custom Yamamoto neoprene exclusively for Jonesea. There are no assembly lines or mass production. My process relies on meticulous craftsmanship and an obsessive focus on fit and performance.
My suits are built for performance in the water. They are buttery soft, lightweight, and extremely flexible while delivering exceptional warmth. The goal is simple: total freedom of movement without sacrificing the insulation surfers rely on in colder water.
My work is trusted by surfing pioneers like Gerry Lopez and John Peck, skateboarding legend Tony Alva, and world champions like four-time world champion Lisa Andersen. My designs have also been worn by icons like Sydney Sweeney, Bianca Balti, Francesca Aiello and Blake GriffinI have maintained a working relationship with luxury designer Thom Browne for 10 years, and my work has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times, and Safari magazine.
At Jonesea, I create for people who value quality, artistry, and the soul of the craft.
